Luka Slabe - Block and Defense (Recording)
This webinar features Luka Slabe, Assistant Coach for the USA Women’s National Team and new Head Coach for NC State University and will take place on Saturday, June 13 from 2:00 - 4:00pm Eastern time.
Luka brings a successful background from European Pro and National Team volleyball, NCAA Men’s volleyball, and, most recently, the USA Women’s National Team. I’ve known Luka for a while, and he’s a fantastic coach. I’m excited to talk to him about how he plans to tackle his next challenge: NCAA Women’s Volleyball.
In these Coaches Workshops, I try to go hyper-specific on what a specific coach is doing with a specific team, and then zoom out to draw the larger lessons. I’ll do that again with Luka, because he’s facing a challenge that’s so common to many of us as coaches; he has a set of principles that has been successful for him, but he needs to apply those principles to a different group of players at a different level of play.
As we break down the video of the USA Women’s National Team, we’ll discuss what are the unique features that are in place for that team, and what Luka anticipates carrying over to the NCAA. This is a great session for any coach who is at a new program and especially for coaches switching between the men’s and women’s game, or between NCAA divisions.
I call these Coaches Workshops, because I limit participation to a small group of coaches and I want the dialogue to be a 2-way street. This isn’t Luka talking for 2 hours and you watching. This is Luka talking about what he teaches and why, and all of us working together and brainstorming about what applies to our specific teams and what doesn’t.
Like most of our Workshops, the conversation will be high-level. We’ll jump right into the specific terminology and concepts that Luka uses with the WNT. Register accordingly.
