Tom Black - Sideout Offense (Recording)

This webinar features Tom Black, Head Coach of the Canada Women’s National Team and University of Georgia.

Tom has led improvements at multiple programs, most recently at UGA, taking them from 1-17 in conference play to 12-6 and an NCAA tournament birth. He was also an assistant for the USA Women's Olympic Team in 2016, and has experience as a head coach at the mid-major D1 (Loyola Marymount), D2 (UC San Diego) and Juco (Pierce College) levels. So coaches at any level have a lot of opportunity to learn from him.

In this webinar, Tom will took us through each of his rotations and discussed his through process. What are his most important factors for each rotation? What’s his Plan A and Plan B? Why?

Tom has been known for running a fast offense with a variety of attacking options from the middle. This webinar paid particular attention to setter and middle footwork mechanics to allow your offense to, “keep the speed,” on a variety of pass locations.

Tom discussed how he visualizes offense as a whole, where he starts the training process with a new team and how he builds each layer on it.

The live webinar was limited to College Coaches Only, so the discussion is fairly high-level, and some of it pertains specifically to training or recruiting at the collegiate level. However, coaches of any level (particularly higher-level club or HS) can learn from the sideout principles he outlines.
